BROOK AND BROWN TROUT

McKenzie Lake now has Brook and Brown Trout. Both the browns and brooks are small in size and there is a limited supply so they are for catch and release only. It is strictly prohibited to keep brown or brook trout. Rainbow trout limits remain the same. Please see below for trout Identification.

Brook Trout

Catch and Release Only.

Fishing limit – 0 (ZERO).

 

Brook Trout Identification

  1. marbled pattern
  2. white leading edge on the pectoral, pelvic, and anal fins
  3. no black or brown spots on the head
  4. distinctive sprinkling of red dots

Brown Trout

Catch and Release Only.

Fishing limit – 0 (ZERO).

*Brown trout have a brownish colored skin covered with ringed dark spots intermixed with ringed red spots.

 

Rainbow Trout

Fishing limit

3 per member’s household per day (includes guest catches);

15 per member’s household per month (includes guest catches).

 

*Rainbows can be identified by their heavy single spots all over their skin along with the bright rainbow stripe down the middle.
